Nurse Clinics

More information

The nurses work closely with each doctor to offer a variety of health services including vaccinations, smears, plastering, wound care and chronic disease management e.g diabetes checks. Nurse appointments are 15 minutes between 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday. Nurses also undertake spirometry and undertake preventable disease checks for our patients.

Health improvement practitioner

Jane McCalman is our Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP for short) who has just started here at Carefirst. Her job is to help out when problems with living and stress are impacting on health, or the other way around. She offers free 20–30-minute appointments that help to improve quality of life and manage stressors/health problems more effectively and is keen to see any person, or whanau, with any problem, of any age, shape or size. Many people get the help they need in one session, others return to learn new skills and all sessions are free. Ask reception about an appointment with Jane the HIP, she can probably see you today!
